renew your skin

This is a rich one. Dense, unhurried, made to be worked in. If you have dry skin and you're looking for a product that will replenish moisture, this is it!

Our Biomimetic Lipid OEH formula feeds your skin. Five ingredients crafted to nourish the lipid layer, so you can get back to normal.

“This balm was a lifesaver! We spent a long weekend at the beach, and my hands and feet were so dry from the sun, salt, and sand. After using Soothe overnight for just two nights, my [skin] was back to normal.

As a healthcare worker, I’m constantly washing my hands and have tried so many products to keep them from getting dry. I was really impressed with Soothe because it melts right into your skin and provides great moisture without leaving a greasy feeling. I also love that it’s made with natural ingredients, so I feel good about using it regularly.

Definitely a new favorite!”

Fair questions, honest answers

Biomimetic Lipid OEH. What does that actually mean?

OEH represents three functions: occlusive, emollient, humectant.

An Occlusive is the seal. Sits on top and slows down how fast moisture escapes your skin. That's the beeswax.

An Emollient is the filler. Dry skin feels rough because the cells at the surface lift and separate. Emollients settle into those gaps making skin feel soft and smooth again. That's the shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and the beeswax.

A Humectant is the sponge. It pulls moisture in and holds it there instead of letting it go. That's the beeswax again. While not traditionally considered a humectant, recent research has shown that beeswax functions as a humectant, which is why the ingredient card says one ingredient covering three jobs. See the research →

Biomimetic means the blend is built to do what your skin's own barrier does. It does not mean we copied its chemistry. Your barrier is ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids. Our salve contains similar chemical compounds crafted to function the same way.

Most products pick one. Lotion is mostly water with an emollient in it, which is why it feels good for an hour. Petroleum jelly is occlusive and nothing else. We wanted all three in one tin, so we chose ingredients that overlap.

What does it smell like?

Like almost nothing — a faint, natural sweetness from the beeswax and a whisper of birch. We never add fragrance; what you smell is just the five ingredients being themselves. If your days are full of harsh soap and sanitizer smells, consider this a break for your nose.

Will it leave my hands greasy?

It's richer than lotion — that's the point — but a little goes a long way. Use a pea-sized amount, rub it in well, and give it a minute to soak in. Most folks apply a heavy layer at night and let it work while they sleep.

There's a white film on top of my salve. Is it spoiled?

Nope — that's bloom, and it's a good sign. Beeswax and shea butter naturally push a fine layer of their own crystals to the surface when the temperature swings, like the pale coating you've seen on a chocolate bar left in a warm car. It's the same salve you paid for, doing what unrefined, unstabilized ingredients do.

Rub it in and it disappears. Nothing is wrong, nothing has separated, and nothing needs to be thrown out. Products that never bloom usually have an additive in them keeping it from happening — ours doesn't, because the whole list is five ingredients.

Why isn't my tin the same color as the last one?

Because beeswax isn't manufactured — it's foraged. The color comes from pigments the bees carry in with pollen and propolis (the plant resin they seal the hive with), so wax takes its shade from whatever was blooming, where, and when. Clover, dandelion, and goldenrod all pour different color into the comb. Older comb runs darker than fresh comb. Our shea butter varies the same way, harvest to harvest.

So a tin poured in June can sit a shade or two off a tin poured in November — anywhere from pale gold to deep amber. Same recipe, same five ingredients, same process.

Here's the part worth knowing: the reason drugstore balms are identical every time is that their wax has been bleached and deodorized — activated charcoal or peroxide treatment — specifically to strip the color and scent out. Uniformity is a processing step, not a quality standard. We buy our beeswax unrefined, which means we get the color the bees made, and you get everything that came with it.

It showed up soft or melted in the summer heat. Is it ruined?

No. Annoying, but not ruined — and it's fixable in about half an hour.

A delivery truck or a mailbox in July gets far hotter than this salve needs to soften. Coconut oil turns liquid around 76°F and shea butter goes soft in the 90s, so a tin can slump long before anything is actually wrong with it. Melting doesn't spoil oils or wax; nothing separates permanently, nothing loses its potency.

What to do: bring it inside as soon as it lands and keep the tin flat and level. Set it on the counter, or put it in the fridge for 20–30 minutes if you want it firm faster. Then let it come back to room temperature before you use it — cold salve drags on the skin instead of gliding, and you'll end up using more than you need.

One cosmetic side effect: if it re-hardens slowly in a warm room, the shea butter can crystallize into tiny grains and feel a little sandy at first. Harmless — it melts right out on contact with your skin. Cooling it in the fridge avoids it, because setting fast keeps those crystals from growing.

The surface may also re-set lopsided or a little glossier than it arrived. Purely cosmetic.

How long does a tin last?

Depends on how many hands (and feet, and elbows) it's covering. Use the "How long will a tin last?" calculator up by the price — tell it who'll be dipping into the tin and it estimates your household's pace, then points you to the Autoship frequency that actually matches. No guesswork, no salve piling up on a shelf.

How does Autoship & Save work?

Pick a delivery frequency and we ship automatically at 10% off — always with free shipping. You're charged the discounted price when each order ships, and you can pause, skip, or cancel anytime from your account. No fees, no phone maze, no guilt trip.

Do people really use it on softball gloves?

Yes. And boots, and at least one cowhide. It started with customers experimenting, and honestly, we're weirdly proud of it — it's a beeswax-and-oils salve, and leather loves that stuff. We do recommend keeping the "glove tin" and the "hands tin" separate.

When your package arrives, you open the box to find this sturdy tin wrapped in tissue, and it smells phenomenal! It reminds me of a mint candy I used to eat as a child. I smelled it for several minutes after I first opened it.

I like that the tin has a screw to stop so I don't worry about it popping open if I drop it on accident. I also appreciate the QR code inside the lid so I can easily reorder when I need to without having to search for the website.

The texture of the product is very smooth without any lumps or clumps or granules. This makes it feel great when you are applying it.

I used it on a couple of dry patches on my hands and it seemed to really help get rid of the peeling skin issue that I have been dealing with for a long time.

I also used it on my dogs paws! He has been having itchy dry spots for weeks and this has seemed to really help. He is chewing on his feet much less and the redness is gone!

Overall I'm very happy with this product and will be reordering when I'm low. I recommend you do the same.

My wife and I began applying Soothe Salve to the dry, cracked skin on our hands and feet - noticeable results in just a few weeks. Prior thereto, we were applying well known, pricey lotions. Some were more effective than others, but they only seemed to make the dry skin more tolerable, rather than actually promote healing. My family and I reside in AZ, and the temperature shift from hot summers to cold winters does a number on our skin - I'm looking forward to Soothe Salve stepping up to the challenge and keeping our hands free from the winter rash we typically experience in the web of our hands.

Additionally, we love that the product is non-greasy and has a very pleasant aroma which calls attention to its natural ingredients. Excellent product - a little goes a long way.

My daughter periodically suffers from dry, painful skin on the back of her hands, and regular lotions just make it worse. Soothe Salve is gentle going on, and brings relief to her skin. I keep a tin in my purse for her, and find that I use it too for chapped lips and dry cuticles. We love this product!

I love how smoothly this goes on and how it makes my skin feel. It is beautifully packaged and makes a special gift. I have been giving it to my friends and they all love it!!

A tin that keeps getting handed to friends is the highest compliment we get.

This salve is perfect for dry hands after a long dish-washing marathon! I think our water contains high chlorine (yuck) which dries my hands out. Other lotions feel good for a few minutes but then I still find my hands feeling dry. This salve actually rejuvenates my hands and leaves them soft!

Brianna, chlorine and a sink full of dishes is a rough combination, glad this outlasts the lotions!

I'm 77 and have the arms of my fathers; Cracked, wrinkled, discolored, and flaky. It took about ten days of use at night and I started realizing what it is like not having my fathers pass downs. This is the first cream/salve that has provided me relief. Thank you so much. Jim

Soothe Salve has become a staple in our home because it's both gentle and incredibly effective. My teenage daughter loves it so much that she used up her entire tin—and then helped herself to mine!
What I love most is how versatile it is. We use it as a daily moisturizer, chapstick, and as a protective barrier for scrapes, cuts, and dry skin. This weekend, my daughter even used it to condition her softball glove. It seems like we're always finding new uses for it.
The tin is the perfect size to keep in a purse, vehicle, sports bag, or nightstand, so it's always within reach when you need it. Despite being rich and nourishing, it doesn't clog pores or leave skin feeling greasy. It's gentle enough for sensitive skin while still being powerful enough to tackle dry, irritated areas.
It's a simple, clean product that can do the job of several products, Soothe Salve is definitely worth all the hype!

We love all the uses you've found. Keep us posted with any other novel applications!

Soothe salve has become a staple in our home! My little one had a rash and I tried several lotions and treatments but nothing worked except soothe. Since then, it is the first thing I reach for. We use it as our daily face moisturizer, for our hands, I even used it for my growing belly in pregnancy! We love it has simple, yet so effective, ingredients that give a mom peace of mind!

So glad we were able to help you and your little one!
